Victory Is Sweet Nectar

Well you will have noted from my last Blog that I was competing this weekend in the New South Wales Country Championships at Glendale in Newcastle a suburb about 2 hours north of Sydney. The conditions were extremely difficult...40 degrees heat followed by blustery cold Southerly Winds...on day one...and 35 degrees heat on the Sunday.

What can I say...My World Support Team has helped inspire me to victory again!...On Saturday the conditions were unbelievable....In the 100m final I was competing against Neville Mc.Intyre an International Representative and Finalist in the last World Championships. I got a good start out of the blocks and was able to Win!....into a 4 meters per second head wind....which is kind of like running into a brick wall for 100m. My foot handled it well...you will recall I had recovered from a bruised foot...my shoulder was tender however so much so that after the race I could hardly lift my right arm to shake hands with the other competitors....

On the second day Sunday I was to run in the 200m it was hot and with cross winds....an hour before my race I had a light massage from Chris Mc.Cormick on my Right leg connector hamstring which was a major problem after the 100m on the previous day...I actually had doubts as to whether I would be able to run without creating further problems....After warming up and with discussions with Wayne Luckey my Power Coach it was decided that I would perform....The Gun went and the race was on....Neville Mc.Intyre was on my outside as we hit the turn coming into the home straight....I felt good at this stage and put the power down to try and dislodge him which I was able to do and powered down the straight to win in a New Record!! I was thrilled and immediately thought of the great spirit and inspiration YOU..My World Support Team have been to me....Last night I slept well....Thank You.

My next invitation run will be at the Telstra A Series 200m billed as " The legends of Track & Field " on February 17....Another Day at the Office.
